The Bug is the fifth largest river in Poland and flows out as a left tributary of the Narew in the Zegrze Reservoir. The total length of the Bug is 772 km (including 587 km in Poland). The river's sources are in the Podolia Upland in Ukraine and on a section of 363 km (Gołębie - Niemirów) the Bug forms the border of Poland with Ukraine and Belarus.
The Bug is one of the most scenic rivers in Poland, which is why two landscape parks have been created there: the Podlasie Bug Gorge and the Nadbużański. From Niemirów, the Bug flows mainly westwards, in the direction from which the wind blows for most of the year and, due to the considerable width of the riverbed, large waves often form. Therefore, you often paddle with the current, but against the wind, which makes it very difficult to cover longer distances. For this reason, it is quite a demanding river, not recommended for beginner kayakers.
